The Home Secretary has called on councils to stop using surveillance powers to catch people for trivial offences.

When the people in power can’t be trusted to use the power properly, who can we trust?

Is snooping on people really clamping down on crime or stopping terrorism, as terrorism was what the snooping laws were supposed to be used for in the first place?

The Councils should never of been allowed ‘spy’ on people in the first place. They are not the police, and therefore do not have the necessary training to use the gathered data properly.

Look at the state of the car!! That is one serious crash!

Rambo Osmanovic, 16, was driving the Mercedes E270 at speeds of up to 130mph when he lost control as he tried to outrun a police patrol.
The car veered off the road and crashed into a lamppost in Hyde, Greater Manchester.
The schoolboy was thrown through the windscreen and pronounced dead at the scene.

My sympathies go out his family. I hope they get true justice for their loss.

Love the rawness of this quote. It has a leap of faith feel about it, mixed with an unsympathetic way of throwing yourself at something fully aware of the potential risks.

World leaders agreed on an injection of $1.1 Trillion (yes Trillion) into the global economy.
Their will be new rules for banking (about time) and a clamp down / name and shame for tax havens

As the UK was the host nation to the G20 Summit, G.Brown our PM said the meeting marked the emergence of the “new world order” (interesting way of putting it). The $1 Trillion injection is also to aid lower income countries (lets hope this actually happens). On a good progressive note, the global markets rose at close of trading yesterday, which is a sign that there may be signs of stability in global economies and faith in the results of the Summit.

President Barack Obama described the summit’s measures as “bolder and more rapid than any international response that we’ve seen to a financial crisis in memory” and predicted that they would mark “a turning point in our pursuit of global economic recovery”. He also helped broker a compromise between Hu Jintao of China and Mr Sarkozy, who had threatened to walk away from the summit (the man’s skills can’t be denied).

My basic summary of it all is this. Imagine your playing a game of Monopoly. You and the other players constantly cheat, lie, steal, borrow (without paying back) and generally render the game pointless. As there is no real direction for the game to go the options are to either stop playing, give up, fold up and put it back on-top the cupboard. Or you can get serious, wipe the slate clean, start over again. You stick to the (easy) rules. No cheating, lying, stealing. You may even go as far as to lend a hand to other players if required. As the game goes on, you get a better understanding of it and people know where they stand and where the game is heading.

So the ‘worlds leaders’ meet today to discuss the financial fate of the world.
I have faith in Obama, I hope he will be able to influence the other leaders that a positive change is needed.
Brown seems to be falling in line with Obama (a good thing I think, remember I’m an amateur at this stuff).
France & Germany have unified and are against Obama and Browns agenda not sure what kind of effect that will have, but I’ll be interested in finding out what their solution is, maybe there is a middle ground where all ideas can meet.
Japan and Chinas economies have also been hit hard by the fall of the US dollar. They have experienced a lot of redundancies, their recovery package is an injection of approx $4 billion (per counrty), but as their population is so vast the injection may not go very far (I don’t think).
